Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on a system of balances, body conditions which may be too moist or too dry, too hot (acid) or too cold (alkaline); wind or stagnation. Teas, soups made from herbs, minerals, or animal, are used to restore or maintain balances, like a tonic. The tonics may be used similarly to, in our Western approach, like taking one aspirin a day for better heart health. Others herbs, may have stronger side effects, such as being toxic for the liver. The integration of Eastern and Western Medicine techniques continues.
